ENGINEERING TEAM
ABOUT THE SENIOR DATA ARCHITECT ROLE
As a data architect you will be responsible for providing data models, data dictionaries, taxonomies and business process models to be used as documentation for new or existing systems. These models will be used to guide the construction of data lakes that will be used by data scientists, BI developers and analysts that are using the latest technologies for data ingestion, transformation and analysis.
The ideal candidate can easily model conceptual models, 3rd normal form logical models and physical transactional and dimensional data models; reverse engineer existing physical data models; document current and new business process models. Deep experience in working with both transactional databases as well as data warehouses is required. The individual should love working with data and able to work well independently in structured and ambiguous environments as well as be part of a collaborative team working on a rich variety of projects. Must be comfortable in communicating with business as well as IT personnel.
Responsibilities:
Create reference data models and business process models
Design and document conceptual, logical and physical models
Create data dictionaries and taxonomies
Reverse engineer existing reporting and transactional databases to create AS-BUILT physical data models
Design and document dimensions and facts
Document new and existing business processes
Able to navigate in an IT environment to access data from databases, files servers and Hadoop environments
Basic analysis on existing databases through the use of SQL statements
Define or document source file or stream formats and mappings
Ensure data security to meet privacy requirements
Collaborate and Support BI developers in understanding how to optimally use the data located in a data lake or data warehouse
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience
Minimum of 8 years in enterprise data modeling in a variety of business areas
Minimum of 5 years in business process modeling
Very proficient in using data and process modeling tools
Able to create and understand reference models
Proficient at creating 3rd normal form logical data models
Understanding of Ralf Kimball Methodology for building Warehouses and ETLs
Experience with one or more RDMS (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata, My SQL or Ingres)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using Excel Pivot Table, Power Pivot and Power Query
Experience with SSIS
Experience in BPMN
Experience with Visual Paradigm
